Avoid Spiritual Snake Bites-Look To The Great Physician

Snakes have been frightening creatures since the beginning of time when Eve yielded to temptation and disobeyed God in the Garden of Eden. Most snakes are pretty harmless, in fact, we have several garden snakes in our garden that are helpful by eating pesky rodents that destroy our crops. There are many snakes though, that are very poisonous and deadly. We, as humans, seem to have instilled in us a natural fear of snakes. In the Bible, snakes are associated with sin and remind us of the fall of mankind. They are a symbol of Satan and his ways. After Adam and Eve disobeyed God and partook of the forbidden fruit, God cursed the snake above all other living creatures.

Gen. 3:13-14 And the LORD God said to the woman, “What is this you have done?” The woman said, “The serpent deceived me, and I ate.” So the LORD God said to the serpent: “Because you have done this, You are cursed more than all cattle, And more than every beast of the field; On your belly you shall go, And you shall eat dust All the days of your life.

In the Bible, there are over 80 references to snakes and they all have negative connotations except Isa. 11:8-9 where it speaks of young children during the millennial age playing by the cobra’s hole and viper’s den, but even this insinuates that the snake was very deadly before the millennial time but has been now changed.

There are a couple other scriptures that people may construe to be in favor of snakes and one is found in:

Matt. 10:16 “Behold, I send you out as sheep in the midst of wolves. Therefore be wise as serpents and harmless as doves.

Here we are told to be smart, knowledgeable, savvy, sharp-witted when among the wolves of the world. We must avoid being deceived by them. This statement is not saying that snakes are good but that they are very skilled at being sharp-witted, savvy and knowledgeable. The difference is that the snakes of this world use this good skill for evil. Christ is telling us to use it for good because He then states that we should be harmless as doves. Why not just stop after saying be wise as serpents? Because serpents use their wisdom for harm. We must use it for good and not damage relationships and other people’s lives through misuse.

So God’s word clearly tells us that snakes or serpents are a symbol of Satan and evil. There is no evidence that the snake was used to portray something good. But what about when Moses made a bronze serpent and stuck it on a pole for the people to look at and be healed? Doesn’t this imply that the snake is good? This is the other place in the Bible where people might be led to believe the snake might be good. Let’s take a deep dive and learn more about this situation.

Moses and the Bronze Serpent

Num. 21:4-9 Then they journeyed from Mount Hor by the Way of the Red Sea, to go around the land of Edom; and the soul of the people became very discouraged on the way. And the people spoke against God and against Moses: “Why have you brought us up out of Egypt to die in the wilderness? For there is no food and no water, and our soul loathes this worthless bread.” So the LORD sent fiery serpents among the people, and they bit the people; and many of the people of Israel died. Therefore the people came to Moses, and said, “We have sinned, for we have spoken against the LORD and against you; pray to the LORD that He take away the serpents from us.” So Moses prayed for the people. Then the LORD said to Moses, “Make a fiery serpent, and set it on a pole; and it shall be that everyone who is bitten, when he looks at it, shall live.” So Moses made a bronze serpent, and put it on a pole; and so it was, if a serpent had bitten anyone, when he looked at the bronze serpent, he lived.

The Israelites couldn’t seem to root out their old ways from when they lived in Egypt. They had adopted idol worship and a lot of the Egyptian lifestyle and were used to being “cared” for by the Egyptians. It was a transition for them to believe in only one God and to trust that He would now provide for them. They (except Moses, Kaleb and Joshua) didn’t believe that God could overcome the giants in the Promised Land, therefore, they were made to wander in the wilderness for 40 years until that unbelieving generation died and a new generation would then enter the promised land, led by Joshua. In the wilderness, there was much grumbling and complaining. At this time, the people became discouraged and the grumbling began again. Instead of trusting in God and His will, the people began to look at their own wills. It was all about what they wanted. When this happens, a sense of feeling unfulfilled sets in and that is why people begin to whine, complain and grumble about anything and everything. This is still true for us today. There is a God hole inside all of us that can only be filled with God. Everyone has this empty hole when we come into this world and unfortunately many try to fill it through other means such as drugs, pornography, entertainment, material goods, sex, fame, careers, popularity, etc. One might have a short lived sense of fulfillment but after a while will realize that he/she feels empty again and true happiness always seems to be just out of reach. From personal experience, I will say that ONLY God can fill this empty hole and when one turns to God and His word and His Beloved Son, only then will a person experience what it’s like to have that emptiness filled up and true joy will be experienced.

That seemed to be a tangent but it relates to this event. Okay back to Moses and the bronze serpent. God sent fiery (venomous) snakes to punish the people for their sins. The people were humbled and recognized that they had sinned and asked for Moses to ask God to take the serpents away. It doesn’t say that God took away the serpents but says that He provided a way for the Israelites to be healed if bitten by simply looking at this bronze serpent that Moses had lifted up on a pole. This was a test of faith. By looking at the bronze serpent, the people are forced to see what bit them symbolically. The serpent was symbolic of Satan and sin and they had been spiritually bitten by Satan’s sly ways. The people recognized their sin, and were humbled enough to put their trust in God to do the simple act of looking in order to be healed. For us today, when we are bitten by Satan’s cunning poisonous fangs, we must take a step back and look at what we’ve done in order to turn from it and make a change. We must turn to the one who can heal us, the Great Physician. God is our Great Physician and He sent His Son, Yeshua, to pay the debt of sin. He took on the sins of the world to be nailed to a cross.

In my former religion of Mormonism, I was taught that the bronze snake represented Christ and that is why the people were healed when they looked at it. When I was a believer in the Mormon Church, I also came across some interesting viewpoints such as that the snake was actually originally a sacred symbol and represented Christ but that Satan corrupted this symbol and made it his instead. Something that people think supports this belief is that snakes shed their skin and it is thought that it represents becoming a new creature in Christ as Yeshua tells us we need to do. I believed that concept when I was a Mormon, but I’ve come to learn that that is a false belief and I will explain why.

I’ve come to learn that yes, this event does point to Christ’s crucifixion and atonement for us, however, the snake does not represent Yeshua, rather it represents sin being nailed to the cross and being paid for by Yeshua’s sacrifice. It is symbolic of sin being overcome so that we don’t have to perish but can have eternal life through belief in Christ.

John 3:14-16 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

We as mortals on this Earthly journey became cursed because God’s Law was broken from the beginning. We were cursed because there was no way we could possibly keep God’s Law perfectly in a fallen state. Yeshua took on the sins of the world and therefore became a curse for us. He lived God’s Law perfectly, therefore, His death was unjust in the sight of God because the wages of sin is death and Yeshua didn’t sin, so He didn’t deserve death because He never broke God’s Law. The curse was broken for us if we would simply accept Christ as our Savior and look to Him for our salvation.

Gal. 3:13-14 Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree”), that the blessing of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles in Christ Jesus, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.

2 Cor. 5:21 For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.

Unfortunately, later on, the Israelites turned the bronze serpent into an idol and began to worship it. It was never something to be worshiped, but was a symbol that pointed to Christ’s sacrifice. It was simply an object to teach the people to look to the day when their sins would be paid for by a Savior. It was supposed to be something that reminded them that they could be healed by looking to what Christ would someday do for them and all humanity. Luckily, King Hezekiah, recognized the sin in worshiping the bronze serpent and destroyed it along with the other idols of the people during his day.

2 Kings 18:4 He (Hezekiah) removed the high places and broke the sacred pillars, cut down the wooden image and broke in pieces the bronze serpent that Moses had made; for until those days the children of Israel burned incense to it, and called it Nehushtan.

The Israelites were bitten by real venomous snakes and were healed by God, who is The Great Physician, if they looked to the physical symbol lifted up on a pole that represented sin being overcome by Christ. Today we can learn from this event. We are surrounded by poisonous serpents that are spiritual, mental, and emotional in nature. We also encounter many metaphorical venomous snakes in a physical sense. We too can be healed by The Great Physician if we but look to His Son, our Savior. When we get bitten by a poisonous snake symbolically speaking, we can look to Christ who took that snake bite (sin) and died for that sin for us. Christ is not a serpent, Satan/sin is the serpent that Christ paid for on the cross. When we put trust in Christ’s atonement for our sins or in other words look to Him for redemption, only then are we saved. If we don’t look to Him then we die in our sins and must pay for them ourselves.

Snakes vs. Butterflies

I would like to go back to the incorrect idea that snakes are symbolic of Christ because of the fact that they shed and it seems to represent becoming a new creature as Yeshua tells us we need to become. There is a more accurate depiction of becoming a new creature in Christ found in the butterfly. In elementary school most of us learned about metamorphosis or better known as the butterfly cycle. A worm-like creature, the caterpillar will gorge itself for a few weeks then climb up to a suitable spot and attach itself and make a cocoon around itself. It will stay in this cocoon for a couple weeks then emerge as a new creature, the butterfly.

This makes so much more sense for a symbol of becoming a new creature than it does for a snake. The snake sheds but it is still the exact same creature. The caterpillar changes into something totally different. We must be like the caterpillar and change into a new creation that is different than the fallen carnal-natured human being. We must transform spiritually. We must have a changed heart as it says in the Bible. We can have that changed heart by having a desire to follow Christ and trying to become like Him. Our desire to sin is no longer there and we desire to follow God’s Law. Does this mean we will never sin again? Absolutely not! We are still human-fallen and flawed, however, our mindset has changed and renewed to unify with God’s will. We will still make mistakes but we have the desire to overcome that tendency and follow God’s path. Our mistakes will be covered by Christ’s atonement at the judgement bar of God because we chose to follow Him.

Mark 9:43-44 If your hand causes you to sin, cut it off. It is better for you to enter into life maimed, rather than having two hands, to go to hell, into the fire that shall never be quenched— where ‘Their worm does not die And the fire is not quenched.’

Is Yeshua saying that if we sin using our hands then we should cut them off? No, certainly not. He is simply emphasizing the fact that sin is so terrible that whatever is causing you to sin should be cut out of your life. Maybe you have a group of friends that are not a good influence in your life and cause you to get into trouble often. Those friends are not as important as your eternal salvation and it’s probably best to give them up and look for new friends who lift you up in life. I find it interesting that He says, “where their worm does not die” in this scripture passage. In order for a caterpillar to become a butterfly, it sort of dies. Inside the cocoon, the caterpillar digests itself by releasing enzymes that dissolve all of it’s tissues. What is left are highly organized groups of cells called imaginal discs that form the new butterfly. We are like these caterpillars in that we are fallen, flawed and prone to sin. We are carnally natured. We are told to put off this natural man and become a new creation. We must put off always wanting to do our own will and strive to align our will with God’s will. When we don’t align our will with God’s will and continue to live in our carnal state, then our “worm” or “caterpillar” does not die so we cannot become a new creature in Christ.

Isa. 66:24 “And they shall go forth and look
Upon the corpses of the men
Who have transgressed against Me.
For their worm does not die,
And their fire is not quenched.
They shall be an abhorrence to all flesh.”

Isa. 41:14 “Fear not, you worm Jacob,
You men of Israel!
I will help you,” says the LORD
And your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel.

What Is A Hard Heart?

The Bible recognizes the heart as the hub of our human character. What we think, say and do originally comes from the heart. What we think leads to actions which leads to behavior and character. We are what we think and ultimately, the desires of our heart are who we become. As I discussed in my post titled “Is God’s Amazing Truth Written On Your Heart?”, the heart in it’s natural state is inclined toward worldly pleasures and desires. The Bible states that this carnal nature (also known as “the natural man”), causes the heart to grow into a hardened condition. So specifically, what is a hard heart and what causes it?

Jer. 17:9-10 The heart is deceitful above all things,
And desperately wicked;
Who can know it?
I, the LORD, search the heart,
I test the mind,
Even to give every man according to his ways,
According to the fruit of his doings.

NKJV

Isa. 6:10 footnote from the Septuagint–‘You will be ever hearing, but never understanding; you will be ever seeing, but never perceiving.’ This people’s heart has become calloused; they hardly hear with their ears, and they have closed their eyes

Footnotes: a 10 Hebrew; Septuagint

Reading from the Bible, we learn that a hard hard is deceitful, wicked, and calloused against seeing and hearing truth. The natural man, which is an enemy to God, has this hard heart because the natural man seeks his own will. When we put off the natural man, we seek God’s will rather than our own will. I was thinking about cognitive dissonance and how it is simply giving in to a hard heart.

The term cognitive dissonance is used to describe the mental discomfort that results from holding two conflicting beliefs, values, or attitudes. People tend to seek consistency in their attitudes and perceptions, so this conflict causes feelings of unease or discomfort. This inconsistency between what people believe and how they behave motivates people to engage in actions that will help minimize feelings of discomfort. People attempt to relieve this tension in different ways, such as by rejecting, explaining away, or avoiding new information.

verywellmind.com

When people reject, explain away or avoid new information, it is simply a case of a hard heart. Of course this new information must be tested to determine if it is truth. We know that truth can cut like a sword as explained in the Bible. The truth is often very difficult to accept when it goes counter to a current belief we might hold dear. If we can accept the fact that we may have been deceived and turn to the truth then that is what is known as having a broken spirit and a broken and contrite heart. When that hard heart is broken and we allow God to replace it with a heart of flesh, a soft heart inclined toward Him, then we can feel peace within, knowing we are walking in truth.

Ps. 51:17 The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit,
A broken and a contrite heart—
These, O God, You will not despise.

Ezek. 36:26-28  I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will take the heart of stone out of your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you will keep My judgments and do them. Then you shall dwell in the land that I gave to your fathers; you shall be My people, and I will be your God.

What Does Looking Have To Do With Healing?

Noah Webster’s 1828 Dictionary explains “look” like this:

  1. To direct the eye towards an object, with the intention of seeing it.
  2. To see; to have the sight or view of.
  3. To direct the intellectual eye; to apply the mind or understanding; to consider; to examine. look at the conduct of this man; view it in all its aspects. Let every man look into the state of his own heart. Let us look beyond the received notions of men on this subject.
  4. To expect.
  5. To take care; to watch.
  6. To be directed.

I really like all these different ways to explain what it means to look. Definition #3 is great in that it explains how to overcome cognitive dissonance. We must examine, consider and try to understand information and determine if it is true or not. This is the opposite of rejecting, explaining away and avoiding new information because it happens to conflict with a current held belief. It mentions looking at the state of our own heart which is significant in that we should always be doing this in order to recognize and root out sin.

James 1:21-25 Therefore lay aside all filthiness and overflow of wickedness, and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls. But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror; for he observes himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was. But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does.

I also really like the definition of #4 and #6. When we look with expectation, that is putting faith in something. When we expect to be spiritually healed by looking to Christ then we will be healed according to our faith in Him. To be directed means that we are relying on someone other than ourselves to be our guide. We should all want Christ and God as our guides in life, not our fallen and flawed carnal selves. God and Christ are who we should lean on and rely on. We cannot save ourselves. God is our Savior through His Son Yeshua, our Messiah.

Snakes in Today’s World

Satan, the Enemy, seeks to destroy us. He is the author of all lies and desires for us to sin. He is the ruler of this fallen world and has many followers. Unfortunately his followers are growing rapidly in these last days. We, as followers of Christ, must be strong, have courage and stay close to God’s Spirit. We must take the sword of truth (His word) and defend what is right and good. We must daily feast from the Bible so we can have the armor of God at all times to deflect the fiery (poisonous) darts flung at us by the adversary. We must be vigilant in avoiding the modern-day serpents all around us and if we happen to get bitten then we must quickly look to the Great Physician for healing.

Modern-day serpents come in all different sizes and colors but their venomous bites are all dangerous. The adversary has gotten control of so many facets that influence our lives. Some of these include: governments, big corporations and businesses, the mainstream news media, the pharmaceutical industry, much of the medical industry, the entertainment industry, education institutions and many religious organizations. We are surrounded and bombarded daily with lies, temptations and blasphemy against what is good and right. Propaganda is one of Satan’s number one tools so we must be extremely careful to not be deceived. We must be modern-day Bereans and test all things. We must examine and look carefully at information so we can know what is truth and what are lies.

The Great Physician vs. Worldly Physicians

There is no doubt that there are good and bad people in the medical field. Unfortunately the corruption in this area has skyrocketed over the last couple decades. I do not want to start a controversial topic, however, I feel like recent information has come to light and it relates to snakes so I feel like it must be brought up. To begin with, we must understand a bit of history regarding the symbol of the medical/pharmaceutical industry.

The Rod of Asclepius

This is a Greek symbol that dates back to about 1500 BC and is thought to have originated from the ‘worm theory’.

“In ancient times infection by parasitic worms was common. The filarial worm Dracunculus medinensis aka “the fiery serpent”, aka “the dragon of Medina” aka “the guinea worm” crawled around the victim’s body, just under the skin. Physicians treated this infection by cutting a slit in the patient’s skin, just in front of the worm’s path. As the worm crawled out the cut, the physician carefully wound the pest around a stick until the entire animal had been removed. It is believed that because this type of infection was so common, physicians advertised their services by displaying a sign with the worm on a stick.”

docontherock.com

This is the most common theory for this symbol and some also believe it may have come from the bronze serpent that Moses lifted up in the wilderness for the Israelites to look at after bitten by poisonous serpents.

The Caduceus

From Wikipedia–The caduceus is the traditional symbol of Hermes and features two snakes winding around an often winged staff. It is often used as a symbol of medicine, especially in the United States, but this is incorrect. (The correct symbol for medicine is the Rod of Asclepius, which has only one snake and no wings.) The two-snake caduceus design has ancient and consistent associations with trade, liars, thieves, eloquence, negotiation, alchemy, and wisdom.

The Caduceus belonged to the Greek god Hermes who was associated with:

  • Commerce and negotiation
  • Thievery and death.
  • Alchemy and printing.

“In the 16th century pharmacist, then called alchemists, used this symbol in the printed early medical texts as the “printer’s caduceus”.  This was also during the time when alchemists believed lead could be turned to gold and immortality could be created amongst varied compounds. In 1902, the mistake was further cemented in North America when the US Army medical corps adopted the Caduceus at the insistence of a single officer. This widely viewed symbol was now associated with medicine, particularly in the States.”

docontherock.com

“As god of the high-road and the market-place Hermes was perhaps above all else the patron of commerce and the fat purse: as a corollary, he was the special protector of the traveling salesman. As spokesman for the gods, he not only brought peace on earth (occasionally even the peace of death), but his silver-tongued eloquence could always make the worse appear the better cause. From this latter point of view, would not his symbol be suitable for certain Congressmen, all medical quacks, book agents and purveyors of vacuum cleaners, rather than for the straight-thinking, straight-speaking therapeutist? As conductor of the dead to their subterranean abode, his emblem would seem more appropriate on a hearse than on a physician’s car.”

Stuart L. Tyson, “The Caduceus”, in The Scientific Monthly

The modern use of the caduceus as a symbol of medicine became established in the United States in the late 19th and early 20th century as a result of documented mistakes, misunderstandings and confusion.

Also note that the Greek word “pharmakeia” appears five times in the New Testament: in Gal 5:20, Rev 9:21, 18:23, 21:8, and 22:15. It is translated into our English Bible as either “witchcraft” or “sorceries”. We also get our English word “pharmacy” from the Greek word “pharmakia”.

Another interesting observation is the statue of Baphomet. Look closely at the stomach area. There is a stick with two serpents and there are wings on Baphomet. Reminds me of the Caduceus. A bit creepy if you ask me!

Here is an explanation from dictionary.com about Baphomet:

What does Baphomet mean?
Baphomet is a term that was originally associated with an idol that the Knights Templar were said to have worshipped. Later, Baphomet was incorporated into other occult traditions as a powerful figure, often depicted as a winged man with the head of a goat.
Baphomet has reportedly been in use since at least the 1090s, when it appeared in an early Crusader’s letter. The name itself, although certainly not its modern image, may have been connected with Islam, as chroniclers referred to mosques as Bafumarias. Some think Baphomet is a corruption of Mahomet, an alternate spelling of Muhammad, although many other cryptic origin theories have been provided.
Regardless of its specific origins, Baphomet got much more attention after the Knights Templar, a medieval Catholic military order, were interrogated under the Inquisition. Under torture, some admitted to worshipping a pagan idol named Baphomet. This figure didn’t have a consistent appearance or nature, and not all Templars admitted to worshipping it. It’s unclear whether Baphomet actually had anything to do with the Templars’ activities, whether it was an accusation the Church created to lend more weight to their other charges of heresy, or whether the admissions were simply tortured out of them.
Baphomet fell into relative obscurity for some time, but was reborn in 19th-century occult works, thanks especially to Eliphas Lévi. In the mid-1850s, Lévi published a picture of Baphomet in his book Dogmas and Rituals of High Magic. The illustration greatly inspired Baphomet’s current incarnation; it was a human-goat amalgamation referred to as the “Sabbatic Goat.” This depiction would go on to influence the iconic Rider-Waite tarot card image of the Devil. In some occult, mystical, or religious traditions, Baphomet is a deity that represents the sum of the entire universe and all its opposing forces.
Who uses Baphomet?
Lévi’s work cemented Baphomet’s association with the occult, and depictions of Baphomet appeared in occult texts throughout the late 19th and early 20th centuries. It was fixed yet more when the Church of Satan adopted the figure, depicted in an inverted pentagram, as their official symbol in the late 1960s. A new sigil, a symbol considered to have magical powers, of Baphomet was created for the Satanic Bible, originally published in 1969 by Anton LaVey.
In 2014, Baphomet was brought again to both public consciousness and controversy when the Satanic Temple, a political organization promoting the separation of church and state, offered to donate a statue of Baphomet to stand alongside a monument to the Ten Commandments outside the Oklahoma Supreme Court. In 2015, a statue of the figure was unveiled, to much controversy, in front of Detroit’s Satanic Temple.

What does Baphomet have to do with what we are talking about? Well, if you pay close attention, you will see that there are more and more references to this Satanic symbol in our society today. For instance, you can research the Super Bowl halftime show for the past 5-10 years and the satanic references abound in those ritualistic shows. You’ll see celebrities dressed in costumes resembling Baphomet, etc. These satanic displays are also found in the Olympic Ceremony shows. The reason I brought it up is because the Caduceus is a very apparent symbol on this statue. Okay with that bit of background, let’s discuss actual snake bites for a minute.

There are several types of venom. When a human is bitten with hemotoxic venom by a snake, the venom decreases blood pressure and increases blood clotting. The venom also hits the heart muscle may causing death. Cytotoxic venom causes death of tissues. Many cytotoxic types of venom also extent through the body increasing permeability of muscle cells. Neurotoxic venom interrupts brain function and the nervous system and it produces paralysis or deficiency of muscle control. Cobras use cobratoxin. They often result in respiratory paralysis and heart failures. Their effect can range between mild seizures to death. Cobras, mambas, sea snakes, kraits and coral snakes are known to possess this venom. The king cobras (ophiophagus hannah) are the most infamous carriers of this venom. Neurotoxic venom is essentially nerve destroying. Hence, one can see speech and swallowing difficulties, drooling, difficulty in breathing, respiratory arrests, convulsions and sometimes even prolonged unconsciousness in the victims. The milder symptoms are dizziness, tunnel vision, blurred vision and increased sweating. This venom causes a very fast degeneration of the synaptic nerves and this is the reason for the blockage of nerve impulses sent to and from the brain to the muscles.

In an article titled Long-term Effects of Snake Envenoming from the National Library of Medicine, it states: “Cardiotoxins: Actually cardiotoxins are muscle venoms. They bind to particular sites on the surface of muscle cells causing depolarisation ==> the toxin prevents muscle contraction. For example the heart muscle: the heart will beat irregularly and stop beating, which will cause death. Snake example: King Cobra and some other cobras. There is a variable symptom of snake venom poisoning, depending on the following criteria:

  • Snake size and species.
  • The quantity and degree of toxicity of the injected venom.
  • The location of bite (As it is far away from the head and trunk, it will be less dangerous)
  • The age of the person (since very old and very young people are in much more risk)
  • The person with medical problems.”

Changes in smell (including loss of smell—anosmia) as well as taste have been reported following Australian elapid bites, mainly for black snakes (Pseudechis). In most cases, patients report a horrible taste sensation, or change in taste/smell that persists for months to years. Persistent anosmia due to olfactory bulb atrophy has been reported in another confirmed case of a Mulga snake (Pseudechis australis) bite.

Elapids (cobra family): There are about 300 venomous species of Elapidae, including kraits, mambas, coral snakes and sea snakes. They have short fangs in the front of the upper jaw and strike downward, followed by chewing. Their venom is mainly neurotoxic but it can also harm body tissue or blood cells. If a cobra bites you, you can die from paralysis of the heart and lungs very quickly after the bite. Redness, swelling and tissue damage, or complete destruction, in the area of the bite. Abnormal blood clotting and bleeding. Severe bleeding can lead to a hemorrhage or kidney failure. Low blood pressure, a faster heart rate and a weaker pulse. Nausea and vomiting, diarrhea, anxiety, headaches, dizziness and blurred vision. Difficulty breathing, or in serious cases, complete loss of breath. Increased production of saliva and sweat. Weakness in your muscles and numbness in the face or limbs.

The Heavens Tell A Clear Story

The stars aren’t just pretty lights in the night time sky. They contain the full Gospel story. Here is a beautiful explanation of what I’m talking about.

The Gospel Of Jesus Christ As Shown In The Star Constellations

It is vital to our physical, spiritual, mental and emotional well-being that we avoid the way of the evil one of this world. We must put our trust in the Great Physician, God and His Son Yeshua in order to survive these last days that will be filled with physical and spiritual peril. We must remember who wins in the end. Christ will defeat that ominous serpent!

Mark 16:14-18 Later He appeared to the eleven as they sat at the table; and He rebuked their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they did not believe those who had seen Him after He had risen. And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned. And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.”
